Why it turns brown at the end
The NHS puts it plainly: when your period is at its heaviest the blood is red, and on lighter days it may be pink or brown. So the colour getting darker in the last days isn't something to worry about; a day or two of light spotting at the end is normal for many people.
What helps
-
1
Log the day it ends. The length of your period is built from this, and it shows up later on the calendar and on these cards.
-
2
A lighter product. By now the lowest absorbency is enough — and for tampons, the same eight-hour rule.
When this isn't normal
- a period that regularly lasts more than 7 days
- bleeding between periods
- bleeding after sex, if you have sex
There's usually a simple, treatable reason, but that's a doctor's answer, not a guess.
