Why your tummy feels puffy
Bloating and cramping are well-known signs of the last week and are on the NHS's list too. Like the rest of this week's signs, they usually ease once your period starts.
What helps
-
1
Leave the scales alone. The number over these few days says nothing about your real weight.
-
2
Comfortable clothes. For these few days, tight clothes will only make it worse.
-
3
Movement. That same short walk helps here too.
When bloating has nothing to do with your period
The NHS counts these as reasons to be seen:
- a swollen abdomen that doesn't settle when your period comes
- loss of appetite
- unexplained weight loss
There's usually a simple reason, but these are the kind you shouldn't leave for months.
