Food and your cycle

A few things that help — and no miracle diet

There's no miracle here

No particular diet “fixes” a cycle. But there are a few simple points, each tied to particular days of the month and each with a source behind it.

The things that do make a difference

  1. 1

Iron, on the bleeding days. Especially if you bleed heavily. The article “Tiredness and iron” has the details.

  2. 2

Small, frequent meals, in the last week. That's the NHS's own advice for this week's symptoms: every 2 to 3 hours.

  3. 3

Water. The simplest thing, and the one you're most likely to be short of.
